GAME
SKETCH
It was a chilly tailgate before the clouds cleared for the
game. Debbie cooked up some great omelets with all the fixings.
Also, we had some sausage balls and cinnamon crumb cake.

Coaches look for signs of progress in their teams each week.
After letting a 27-20 victory over Central Florida soak in,
Arkansas' coaches saw more progress in the determination department than in
actual execution of the game plan.
The Razorbacks made their share of plays, but they had to
summon extra strength to hold off the upset-minded Golden Knights. It took a
failed fourth-down trick play for the threat to end with 22 seconds left after
Central Florida reached the Arkansas 16-yard line.
One week after being extended to seven overtimes at Ole Miss,
the sagging energy level was evident.
"We knew in pregame warm-up what I feared all week was
just how much emotion and energy [was lacking]," Nutt said Sunday.
"Even on the bus ride over to the hotel Friday, there's usually a little
bit more conversation, a little bit more talk about what movie you're going to
see, what we're going to eat. It was quiet. It was very, very quiet. A lot more
naps, a lot more people sleeping. It was just a very tiresome week."
Arkansas won by controlling the ball with a seven-minute edge
and by outrushing the Knights 238-65. By rendering Central Florida
one-dimensional, the defense then concentrated on disrupting the passing game.
The Razorbacks knocked down quarterback Ryan Schneider 15 times.
Nutt praised just about everybody on the two-deep roster,
most prominently free safety Ken Hamlin, defensive end Carlos Hall and tailback
Fred Talley. Hamlin collected two turnovers, Hall pressured Schneider and Talley
rushed for 189 yards and scored two touchdowns.
"What I liked yesterday was as slow as we looked, I
never felt like the guys thought, 'Uh oh, we're going to lose this game,' "
Nutt said. "They never had that expression. I might have had that
expression but they never had it. ... They were cool. They believed they were
going to make a play."
