Westward Bound:  Utah & Idaho
April 25, 2003

Day One:  We left Little Rock on an early flight to Houston and then on into Salt Lake City.  We picked up our rental car and headed north.  Made a brief stop in Bountiful, Utah for a burger & milkshake from Best Burger.  We visited Golden Spike National Historic Site (the location where Union Pacific & Central Pacific railroads  met on May 10, 1869 completing the first transcontinental rail route).  Then we made a brief visit to the Thiokol Rocket Display (where the solid rocket motors of America's space exploration are on display).  Drove further north entering into Idaho (our 11th state on our way to 50).  We encountered a brief snow storm on our way but quickly outran it.  Near the end of the day we visited Snake Canyon with stops at Shoshone  Falls (the Niagara Falls of the West except they are pretty dry due to a 4-year drought), the Twin Falls (the town's namesake) before finding the Holiday Inn Express.
