Sunday, September 14th:
Still recovering from our romp through downtown Raleigh yesterday, we took an easy day today.  Sleep in late before packing up and heading out to see more sights.  Our first stop of the day was at Duke University where we visited Duke Chapel and Cameron Indoor Stadium.  Next we drove over to the University of North Carolina for a drive through campus before getting back on I-40 towards Greensboro.  We visited Gulford Courthouse National Military Park (major Revolutionary War battle fought here) outside of Greensboro and then drove on into Winston Salem where we checked into our hotel.  Later we explored the city and visited Historic Bethabara Park, where the first Moravians in North Carolina settled in the late 1700s.  Capped off the day with a visit to Krispy Kreme for some hot doughnuts. (Krisy Kreme is headquartered in Winston Salem).
